GNBCC & EUROCHAM JOINT COCKTAIL

Last night GNBCC together with Eurocham organised a joint cocktail for its members. This was also to celebrate that as from 2024  GNBCC is joining the Eurocham . The evening was officially opened by GNBCC's GM Tjalling Wiarda where he welcomed Eurocham's Executive Board Members Andrea Ghia and Nicolas Gebara. Also he introduced and welcomed  Mr Joey Pijkeren, Head of Consular Affairs of the Dutch Embassy.

He used the opportunity to launch the GNBCC 365 Magazine for GNBCC Members and partners, the magazine shows an overview of GNBCC's activities in 2023. It’s in a limited edition and captures what GNBCC does – its cocktails, projects and other activities. The magazine was made by GNBCC's own editor in chief Mrs Grace Agorigo with the help of her editorial team consisting of Mrs Naana Biney and Mrs Naa Ayettey.

Furthermore he mentioned that GNBCC  has started Member visits to our New Members who became Member this year and last year. The 1st visit reports can be read in our Newsletter. Also the GNBCC, in collaboration with MDF , will start its Fifth Edition of The Dutch Export Academy (DEA).

After that he invited Mr Joey Pijkeren of Consular Affairs to the floor to present on the services the Embassy can offer to the Dutch people in Ghana and to Ghanian Members of GNBCC who need to travel to the Netherlands. Mr Pijkeren mentioned that he is in contact with the GM of the GNBCC concerning the possible introduction of the Orange carpet regulation where the process to obtain visa for Ghanaian staff who, for instance,  need to go to the Netherlands for a training, will become faster.

Also he said some words about the process for obtaining a new passport for Dutch people through the Embassy -  The Netherlands started 10 years ago with the issuance of new passports which were valid for 10 years, since this year those 1st adopters want to renew and unfortunately in some countries there are some delays in obtaining your renewal or new passport. He advised to start the proces of your passport renewal at least 2 months in advance. Mr Pijkeren also called upon Dutch to register to vote in  the coming European elections by registering through the website: https://www.denhaag.nl/nl/verkiezingen/kiezers-buiten-nederland/

The final speech came from Nicolas Gebara from Eurocham. He welcomed GNBCC as thier new Member. Important part of Eurocham's and GNBCC's work is advocacy towards the Ghana authorities to improve on the business and investment climate. Through the Eurocham GNBCC now works together with the French, Spanish, Italian, German, Hungarian and UK Chamber to strengthen the voice of European related business in Ghana.

After that Tjalling raised his glass to cheer the audience and wished everybody happy Easter !
