HBC 2024 Closing Ceremony and Cocktail

Last Friday, we held the grand closing ceremony of the Horticulture Business Challenge (HBC) 2024 at the Tomreik Hotel in Accra, to mark the official conclusion of this year’s challenge and the announcement of the winning team.

The morning started with the participants preparing for the presentation of their final solutions. These presentations took place in front of three esteemed jury members - Naana Biney Ohemeng, Nana Yaa, and Cecilia - as well as representatives from Green Gold Gardens and Green Energy Ghana. We were also honored by the presence of the First Secretary from the Netherlands Embassy, Bram van Elmar.

All four teams delivered outstanding and innovative presentations, offering feasible solutions to the business cases of these companies in just 7 minutes. Each team presentation was followed by a round of questions from the jury and company representatives. After all presentations were made, the jury and company reps deliberated extensively, evaluating the solutions and presentations to determine the winner.

Later in the evening, we hosted a cocktail session to celebrate the closing ceremony, where we  welcomed GNBCC members, HBC alumni, invited entrepreneurs, program supporters, company representatives, and jury members. The evening was hosted by our two wonderful coaches, Joana Chemel and Susanne Roelofsen Affum, who facilitated introductions and invited each participant to share their areas of expertise and career aspirations.

Throughout the room, the participants' profiles and business solutions were displayed, allowing guests to engage with the teams, ask questions, and gain deeper insight into their innovative ideas.

The evening concluded with the awarding of certificates, presented by the GNBCC Board Chairman, Mr. Kofi Polley. Led by Naana, the jury announced the scores for each team, creating suspense before finally revealing the winning team of HBC 2024 - Team Innovation, consisting of Joyce Inkoom, Ezekiel Satanga, and Bright Abglevor. The team’s excitement was palpable, and the entire room celebrated their well-deserved victory.

While Team Innovation took home the title, we firmly believe that all the participants are winners for embracing the journey, pushing their limits, and contributing to this transformational experience. Each participant leaves with new skills, networks, and experiences that will serve them well in their personal and professional lives.

We are grateful to all who supported this year’s HBC and look forward to seeing the continued impact of the participants. Full details of each day of the 10-day program can be found on our LinkedIn page.
