Distinguished Speaker Series on Foreign Direct Investment; Hon. Alan John Kyerematen

The second session of the Distinguished Speaker Series on Foreign Direct Investment with Honourable Alan John Kyerematen was held on the 18th of September at the Alisa Hotel, North Ridge. For this session we had sent out invites to our Membership.

The event was held in a tent on the premises of the Alisa Hotel . At the event Mr Kyerematen spoke about his plans for Ghana concerning stabilizing the economy, getting the inflation down, making Ghana more attractive for foreign investors and foremost breaking the duopoly of power (NPP- NDC) . He referred to his Great Transformational Plan, a blueprint for Ghana’s transformation leading to stability, growth, resilience and prosperity. The plan can be downloaded here.

After his presentation he received a number of questions from the audience ; our GM Tjalling Wiarda asked him for instance his stand of the Cocobod which is in a dire situation and if Mr Kyeremateng agrees that privatization is a prerequisite (he agrees) ; also questions on the new GIPC act which is now in Parliament. Discussions continued and  focused on analyzing the policies proposed by him  to attract and retain FDI, which is crucial for economic growth through job creation, tax revenue generation, capital inflows, technology transfer, export development, and infrastructure enhancement.

This event was spearheaded by the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) and supported by the French Chamber of Commerce & Industry in Ghana (CCIFG), the European Chamber of Commerce in Ghana (EUROCHAM), Canada Ghana Chamber of Commerce (CANCHAM), Ghana Netherlands Business & Culture Council (GNBCC), Spain-Ghana Chamber of Commerce (SGCC), Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), and the Ghana South Africa Business Chamber (GSABC).
