YEP Peer Coaching Weekend in Ivory Coast

From the 17th to the 20th of October, a Young Executive Programme (YEP) Peer Coaching Weekend took place in Côte d'Ivoire, bringing together Young Experts (both alumni and current participants) from diverse backgrounds, all actively working for Dutch-affiliated organization in West Africa. The West African countries represented included Ghana, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Mali, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, and Benin, covering YEP’s three focus sectors: water, agrofood, and energy. Representing GNBCC, staff members Jemima Rockson and Tracy Mensah were among the participants.

The weekend focused on personal development, peer coaching, and professional growth. Additionally, participants visited the Dutch Embassy, where they learned more about the embassy’s mandate and strategic direction in the country. Another highlight was an insightful visit to the SNCIAT cocoa plantation, which showcased the intricacies of cocoa production and processing.  The visit also clearly demonstrated the nexus of water, energy, and agrofood, such as how water from the Bandama River in Côte d'Ivoire is treated and processed to irrigate the cocoa plantation.

YEP Peer Coaching Weekends are designed to foster learning and collaboration among Young Experts. The weekend provides a platform for participants to share knowledge, explore new opportunities, and find solutions to navigate their career paths. Through such initiatives, YEP Programmes stimulates shared learning between YEPpers, even after their formal YEP training is over.

The YEP Peer Coaching Weekend in Côte d'Ivoire was more than just a professional development event – it fostered personal growth, meaningful connections, and a deeper understanding of the socio-economic landscape in West Africa. Read more about the YEP Programmes here.
