Youth in Food Program host Second Alumni Event

The Youth in Food Program (YFP) hosted its second alumni event on Saturday, November 30, 2024, providing a vibrant platform for alumni from different cohorts to connect and network. The event, held at Buro, began at 11:00 AM with a workshop titled “Working Smarter: The Human-AI Collaboration for Your Careers.” The session, led by Jason Quist, an AI researcher and expert in Deep Learning and Reinforcement Learning, introduced various AI tools and how they can be used effectively and ethically. A total of 22 alumni participated in the event. There was also a professional photoshoot session where each participant got the chance to take profile pictures for their LinkedIn profiles.

After a delicious lunch of Tubani, Potatoes, and Salad, catered by GFM Chefs, the second half of the program resumed with remarks from Naa Ayeley Ayettey, a representative from the GNBCC. She highlighted several GNBCC initiatives, including the Horticulture Business Platform, the Horticulture Business Challenge, the Diaspora Desk, and the Youth in Food Program,and Women in Business  encouraging attendees to explore the opportunities available within these programs.

The event also featured company presentations from Tale Beer and Warc Africa, where they showcased job vacancies in their organizations. Rochelle, the Restaurant Manager at Tale Beer, shared openings for bartenders, waitstaff, and front office roles, emphasizing the value of passion and their willingness to provide training for candidates without prior experience. The Human Resource manager from  Warc Africa Warc Africa a longstanding partner of the Youth in Food Program , Naa Pappoe Addoley also disclosed over 20 available positions, including HR Assistants and Agronomists, Farmer connectors. After the presentations, the Alumni eagerly engaged with the company representatives to register their interest in various roles.

The program concluded with a short presentation on the new YFP interactive website and how youth can sign on for the platform when it is launched and the presentation on the GFM Kitchen opening on December 17th by Aimee Wallin.
