GNBCC Congratulates Simon Madjie as new GIPC CEO

GNBCC congratulates Simon Madjie on his appointment as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC). GNBCC has worked closely with Simon during the distinguised speaker series on Foreign Direct Investment last year where we invited H.E John Dramani Mahama and Hon. Alan John Kyerematen as speakers on two occasions.

Simon Madjie, the incoming CEO, brings a wealth of experience to the role. Prior to his appointment, he served as the Executive Secretary of the American Chamber of Commerce, Ghana, where he was instrumental in fostering trade relations between Ghana and the United States.

Under his leadership, the Chamber facilitated several high-profile investment projects and worked to promote Ghana as a preferred destination for foreign direct investment.

Profile of Simon Madjie

Simon Madjie is a lawyer, an investment promotion and facilitation professional with over a decade’s experience in initiating, leading, and strengthening investment and trade partnerships between the United States, Ghana, and Africa.

He is an Abshire-Inamori International Leadership Fellow from the Center for Strategic International Studies (CSIS), Washington DC. He is also fellow of the Institute of International Affairs, Ghana, and a member of the Ghana Bar Association.

He has served as the Executive Secretary of the American Chamber of Commerce, Ghana (AmCham) since 2009 responsible for facilitating trade and investment between the Republic of Ghana and the United States of America, He works closely with Chamber Member companies, Business Coalitions, Government Officials (US & Ghana) and other business executives to advocate for U.S companies in Ghana.

He is also the coordinator of the Chamber’s AfCFTA Resource Center, an institution set up to bridge the information gap about Africa’s biggest trade agreement for international businesses. He is also the convener of the Distinguished Speaker Series on Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), a high-level public-private platform by the consortium of international trade associations in Ghana to discuss the pertinent issues impacting Ghana’s investment and business climate.

He served as a consultant to the formation of AmChams in Ethiopia, Angola, the Gambia, and Cote D’Ivoire. He served as one of the judges for the 2022 US Chamber of Commerce Africa Digital Competition, which unearthed some of Africa’s best tech startups.

He holds a master’s in international Trade Law from the University of Turin, the European University Institute, the United Nations Convention on International Trade (UNCITRAL) and the International Training Centre of the International Labour Organization (ILO).
